Meet the Maker: WTHN

This week, we chatted with Shari Auth of WTHN, whose company’s approach is based on 2,500 years of time-tested healing + the latest in modern research. Their Oops I Did it Again Supplement has been a lifesaver for many after a long night out! Each herbal offering shines a light on discoveries that validate the traditional use of Traditional Chinese Medicine + herbs (both have healed humans for thousands of years). WTHN was co-founded by Shari and Michelle Larivee, brought together by their personal health journeys.

Tell us a little bit about yourself!

I’m a licensed acupuncturist and board certified Chinese herbalist with a doctorate in Chinese medicine. I’m also certified in Structural Integration, Shamanism, yoga + pilates and I’m an a PanchaKarma therapist and a licensed massage therapist. I’ve dedicated my life to studying, practicing and sharing holistic healing modalities and my studies have taken me across the globe to Peru, China, Thailand, India and more.

How did you come to create WTHN?

I love Chinese medicine, I’ve seen and experienced how it changes lives and want it to be more available. WTHN is a modern approach to Chinese medicine that is making it easier than ever to integrate the healing power of acupuncture + herbs into your life.  I created the WTHN line of herbal blends to be accessible, convenient and made with the best quality of organic herbs on the market. The packaging is fun and makes self-prescription simple. Our herbs come in easy to swallow tablet form so you can take your herbs everyday + on-the-go.

Can you tell us a bit about how you source the ingredients for your blends?

WTHN is proud to be the first Chinese herb company that uses 100% organic Chinese herbs. We carefully source our ingredients and then test for metals, microbes, pesticides, and do additional identity testing to ensure what’s on the label is what is in the bottle.

You mention that in Traditional Chinese Medicine, herbs in a blend are more potent than solo herbs. Tell us a little bit about your experience in the Traditional Chinese Medicine space.

I’m a board certified Chinese herbalist. When studying Chinese herbs I learned all the Chinese herbs individually and then studied famous blends to treat a variety of conditions and then learned how to blend herbs to create custom blends. Herbs in a blend are more potent than individual herbs because they treat multiple symptoms present with any given condition. For example, our stress formula includes herbs that treat anger-based stress and fear-based stress, as well as herbs to optimize energy levels and herbs to help circulate and digest the formula for better absorption.

Do you have a blend that is your favorite?

Tough to choose – it’s like having a favorite child! I use all of the eight WTHN formulas in my regular wellness routine and believe we should all have a home herbal apothecary. Some days I wake up tired and need Fully Charged while other days I need an immunity boost so I don’t catch my daughter’s cold, and other days I need to destress or detox, so I take Run The World or Clean Slate. Other formulas are just great to have on hand, like Kick It, which should be taken at the first sign of a sore throat to avoid getting sick, or Oops I Did It Again which is a game changer for indigestion or hangover.

Where do you hope to see health and wellness trends grow and change this year?

I love seeing people take their health into their own hands and focus on prevention. I think it’s so important to get to know your own body, listen to it and learn how to give your body what it needs to thrive, whether that’s herbs + exercise or recovery activities like acupuncture + meditation.

What do you hope people experience while using the WTHN blends?

Total health. Not only can the WTHN blends can help you achieve your best health, they can help you stay healthy too.
