Get to Know Full Moon Yoga Instructor: Sade Mckenzie

Sade will be hosting Full Moon Yoga + Meditation on January 16th at 10 AM EST to welcome the Full Moon in Cancer. Sade believes in optimum self-love and care and continues to explore these ideas through holistic healing, creative expression, and astrology. As a Yoga and Meditation teacher her goal is to guide students back to themselves; where they can cultivate a deeper connection to their mind, body, and spirit. Her vinyasa classes encourage students to discover new depths and opportunities to grow physically and spiritually. Sade’s class will be offered on a sliding scale, from $5 to $25, and we ask you to pay the ticket option that is available to you. Her class is open to all levels from beginner to advanced.

1) When did you first begin your practice of Yoga?

2013 was when I began my yoga practice & journey. I started with Vinyasa!

2) What has been the most rewarding part of your Yoga journey?

Constantly exploring new and vulnerable spaces within my body. I loved unlocking new truths, and new beginnings, within myself through my practice. I enjoy connecting with different people, and yoga has introduced me to my spiritual family. Now that I teach I get to experience this space of freedom and vulnerability with my students.

3) What has been a challenge you’ve faced on your mat that you’ve overcome

Definitely being self-conscious about how I might look, or even making sounds during my practice.  Learning how to mold into myself and just be me in my practice.

4) Your series with The Alchemist’s Kitchen is being offered around the moon cycle, your upcoming class on the 16th aligns just before the Full Moon in Cancer on the 17th. How does the moon energy (ie: New vs Full) affect your practice?

The moon is constantly affecting and shaping our inner state of stability and nourishment. Since my moon cycle syncs with the moon phase it’s always an intimate time to hear, feel, and connect with the subtle energy. I enjoy using movement, meditation, astrology, and other tools to connect more intimately with myself during the new moon and full moon (and just in general ahahaha).

5)  Thank you so much for generously offering your upcoming class on the 16th on a sliding scale – What would you say to anyone just beginning a yoga practice?

Really excited and looking forward to our full moon class on the 16th! I would tell beginners to be open to meeting new versions of themselves. Take your time, and enjoy the discovery.
